Gives a superb grip on the seabed but releases its grip as soon as the angler starts to retrieve by responding to a certain level of pressure applied either by the anglers retrieve or a hooked fish fighting to escape. Once the grip wires have released, they lie limp and are dragged behind the lead as it moves through the water giving no resistance and remaining tucked away from any snags.

The longtailed version of the standard gripaway lead gives you an extra option for clipping your bait right in tight behind the lead in that 'sheltered' zone (created by the air stream flowing around the lead during a cast) thus increasing the quality of your bait presentation when it reaches the water. The lengthened wire also acts as an extra anchor to your lead by lying flat on the bottom whilst the grip wires become well and truely buried in the sea floor.
